As a Pipelayer, your primary role will involve laying, assembling, installing, and repairing water, sewer and storm drainage underground pipes and fittings, as well as preparing trenches for the pipe.

Salary Range: $18 - $25 per hour

Here's what Skillit needs from you:

  • Experience in pipe installation work with large-diameter water, sewer and storm drain systems. The more experience, the higher the demand.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and project specifications.
  • Physical stamina to work hours on your feet and do physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to understand and comply with directions while performing assigned tasks proficiently.
  • Willingness to do job-specific certifications if needed, which could be: Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training.
  • Driver's license and dependable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Minimum age requirement: 18+.


Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Assembling, installing, and repairing water, sewer and storm drainage underground pipes and fittings.
  • Laying and securing metallic and PVC pipes, including ductile iron, steel and concrete pipe.
  • Preparing trenches by directing excavation, grading and leveling to allow proper pipe placement.
  • Assisting equipment operators in guiding and setting pipes.
  • Mounting and running pipe lasers and transits to determine proper installation.
  • Leak testing of pipes and measuring, cutting and installing pipes to specifications.
