Job DescriptionJob DescriptionVicksburg Forest Products in Vicksburg, Mississippi is searching for a Planer Mill Supervisor. This role will be accountable for the Planer production by managing staff, participating in the overall administration of ensuring safety, process, procedures, policies, production and accountable for metrics and planer performance on a day-to-day basis. The ideal individual will have strong leadership skills and ability to get work done through others.ResponsibilitiesAssist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes.Demonstrate strong leadership and training by leading manufacturing principles and events with supervision.Strengthen, develop and motivate staff by managing responsibilities and ensuring accountability. Continually sharpen the professional skills of team members.Ensures safe work practices, follows safety procedures and completes required safety forms, checklists and permits.Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities.Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products.Other Duties as needed. Required SkillsAt least 1 year of prior experience as a supervisor or leadDemonstrative safety leadershipExcellent team-building and motivational skillsUnderstanding of accounting and financial metrics for a mill operationGood written and verbal communication skillsGood computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft OfficeSolid analytical and problem-solving abilities.Previous wood products manufacturing management experience.Lean manufacturing/5S experience a plusEnvironmental Conditions:Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
