Youll be mentored by planners with decades of experience and supported by a company that believes your professional growth is key to our shared success.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Assist city and county planning departments with current and long-range planning tasksReview site plans zoning requests and administrative applicationsProvide public counter services and respond to community inquiriesConduct research for comprehensive plan and code updatesPrepare and present staff reports and recommendations to boards and commissionsBuild collaborative relationships with municipal staff and colleaguesSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:Understanding basic planning and zoning practice along with the ability to review plans and apply provisions of the ordinances and codes to determine compliance with such regulationsReading and interpreting site plans floor plans elevations and sections. Ability to understand an apply dimensional scales as it applies to development reviewWriting and communicating effectivelyThe application of statistical algebraic or geometric knowledge to practical situationsWorking with computer hardware and software programs which may include the Microsoft Office suite the Adobe suite Internet applications GIS desktop plan review software and electronic permitting systems.Being able to positively interact with the other team members the general public contractors governmental entities and other clienteleDemonstrating specific attention to detailEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelors degree in urban planning architecture geography or a related field13 years of experience in public or private sector planning (internships count)Strong written verbal and visual communication skillsCuriosity initiative and a genuine interest in community developmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite; familiarity with GIS or electronic permitting is a plusA team-oriented mindset and commitment to excellent customer serviceProficiency in a second language is a plusCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS: SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a 401K with matching.
