Plastic Technician at Aerotek
JOB DESCRIPTION
Plastics Manufacturing Technician
We are searching for a variety of plastics production positions including injection mold operators, mold set up technicians, process technicians, and more! All applicants with plastics experience are encouraged to apply.
The role involves working with 300-ton Arburg injection mold machines with robotics and automation. Higher level candidates will adjust and monitor pressure, feed rates, and temperatures, and perform quality inspections for flash, shorts, and deformations. This position requires meeting on-time completion, quality, and cost targets associated with the implementation of new injection mold machine setups and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and/or setup 300-ton Arburg injection mold machines with robotics and automation.
- Adjust and monitor pressure, feed rates, and temperatures.
- Perform quality inspections for flash, shorts, and deformations.
- Create procedures, work instructions, and protocols as required.
- Improve productivity and reduce scrap/reject rates through automation, tool/process improvements, effective training of production personnel, and process enhancements.
Essential Skills:
- Manufacturing experience operating or setting up plastics manufacturing machines.
- Troubleshooting various process issues including shorts, flashes, and discoloration.
- Knowledge of plastic materials and various poly's.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Injection mold experience preferred, but any plastics experience welcome (thermoforming, blow molding, etc.)
- Associate's degree or certificates in robotics, automation, or injection molding processing.
- Experience changing molds and setting up proper feed, pressure, and temperature.
- Experience working with Arburg brand machinery.
- Forklift certified / Crane certified.

Work Environment:
Work in a very clean and temperature-controlled facility with current openings on second shift (3pm-11:30pm) and third shift (11:30pm-7am). Initial training will be on the first shift for 2-3 months (6am-2:30pm).
Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
