DescriptionPosition Summary:Vanderbilt University Maintenance and Operations (VUMO) seeks a Plumber Journeyman to perform routine plumbing work and plumbing construction/installation is a full-time position: 40 hours per be available to work 3:00 - 11:30 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as required including evening hours.VUMO provides facilities support for all construction renovation and routine maintenance of University Central space and facilities; housekeeping services for approximately 5.8 million square feet of academic administrative residential and recreational space; grounds care for 330 acres that are a registered arboretum; turf care for athletic fields; and utilities for the University Central and the Medical Center.VUMOs annual budget exceeds $100 million in operating expenses and includes over 400 employees. VUMO manages major capital project expenditures totaling $125 million annually and facility renewal replacement and large maintenance project expenditures totaling $20 million annually.Key Functions and Expected Performance:Maintain and repair domestic water linesMaintain and repair sanitary sewer systemCheck and repair all backflow devicesMaintain and repair all steam domestic water heatersMaintain and repair all plumbing fixturesMaintain and repair all domestic recirculation pumpsMaintain and repair domestic pressure regulating valvesMaintain and repair storm sewer systemAssist on irrigation problemsAssist zone electrician plumber and carpenter in performance of their dutiesUtilize work order system in all aspects including parts ordering printing work orders and parts look upSet up and monitor personal work order queryProcess daily work order time sheetOperate vehicle/golf cart and perform operator level maintenanceOther duties related to classificationSupervisory Relationships:This position does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively and functionally to Preventive Maintenance Manager.Education and Certifications:High School Graduate or GED is requiredJourneyman Plumbers License is preferredValid Driver License is required; must have and maintain a valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record.
