Job Title:Post Doctoral Scholar - Comprehensive Cancer CenterDepartment:Medicine | School Biomedical Sciences Cancer Biology and GeneticsDr. Yang Gao joined The Ohio State University (OSU) in August 2025 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cancer Biology & Genetics, where he is establishing an independent research program. Supported by generous start-up funding from OSU and an active NIH K99/R00 award, the Gao Lab provides a strong and stable foundation for scientific discovery. We are seeking 2 Postdoctoral Scholars to join our growing team and explore how tumor–immune interactions shape cancer progression and therapy response.🔬 Our ResearchAt the Gao Lab, we study the tumor ecosystem with a focus on three major themes:The heterogeneity of the immune landscapeMechanisms of therapeutic resistanceThe role of tumor–host interactions in cancer metastasisOur work aims to uncover why treatment resistance and distant recurrence occur in solid tumors, with a special emphasis on breast cancer.Our discoveries so far include showing how myeloid cell heterogeneity contributes to immunotherapy resistance and revealing how the bone microenvironment shapes breast cancer bone metastasis.Current projects in the lab:Exploring how neutrophil interferon-stimulated genes regulate the tumor immune microenvironment and response to immunotherapy. Mapping the immunosuppressive ecosystems that support breast cancer metastasis in major organs, including bone, lung, liver, and brain. Identifying new mechanisms that drive therapeutic resistance in metastatic disease.To tackle these questions, we use cutting-edge technologies, including spatial transcriptomics, single-cell multi-omics, tumor immunology, and in vivo genetically engineered mouse models. By bringing these approaches together, we strive to generate insights that will translate into better therapies and improved outcomes for patients.Required QualificationsPh.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Oncology, Immunology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, or a related fieldAt least one first-author publication in a relevant research areaExperience with animal models, spatial transcriptomics, or multi-omics integration is highly desirableStrong written and oral communication skills; team-oriented and self-motivated We OfferCompetitive NIH-scale salary and full OSU benefitsMentorship and career-development support, including guidance for independent fellowships (e.g., NIH K99/R00)✉️ How to ApplyApplications are reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
