We foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic and population research.Position Summary:Dr. Daniel Dominquez, Assistant Professor, Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) School of Medicine is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join his team. The Dominguez lab studies how gene expression is controlled by proteins that bind RNA. RNA binding proteins control the way RNAs are transcribed, spliced, polyadenylated, exported, degraded, and translated. Areas of research include altered RNA regulation in cancer, evolution of RNA-regulation, and altered RNA regulation in neurodegenerative diseases.Successful candidates in this position will employ computational approaches to analyze a variety of large data set types including RNAseq, DNAseq, RIPseq, and CLIPseq. Experience in gene expression analysis, alternative splicing analysis, machine learning, and motif analysis are preferred. Candidates will also be expected to mentor and train undergraduate and junior graduate students, pursue funding opportunities, publish their research, and progress towards an independent research career.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:PhD, MD, or MD/PhDRequired Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:The position requires an understanding of gene regulation, RNA processing, RNA splicing.
