DermatologySalary:Title: Post Doc FellowPhysical work location: 787 11th Avenue 6th Floor New York NY 10019Name PI or Supervisor: Dr. Hongzhen Hu E:Web link to Lab: link to Dept: Contact: Pam Gassner/E:ResponsibilitiesDetails of Research Project:The Post Doc Fellow will work on pilot studies investigating how CGRP-expressing trigeminal sensory neurons communicate with immune cells in the meninges. They will use genetic models to stimulate or inhibit the CGRP-expressing trigeminal sensory neurons to perform gain and loss of function studies. They will also use reporter mice to trace nerve fibers of these neurons in young and aged mice to see if aging impacts the structure and function of these neurons and its impact on neuroimmune crosstalk in the meninges.Technical Duties: Designing and executing scientific experiments Regular presentation of data in lab meetings work-in-progress seminars and national/international meetings Provides data for grant submissions and progress reports for NIH and foundations Attending meetings or taking part in conference calls with other clinicians and scientists Analyzes and interprets research results and the scientific literature in connection with writing or editing high-quality grant fellowship applications manuscripts etc. Helps other researchers translate data results into a manuscript format and propel them to publication Effectively manages time multi-task and handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment. Develops detailed project timelines according to team and project-specified deadlines. Supervises technicians graduate students and junior postdoctoral fellows Other relevant duties as neededQualificationsEducational and other Requirements for the position:MD and/or PhD degree and applicable experience and educationExperience Required:3 years of relevant experience in laboratory. Specific skillsets required: basic flow cytometry preparation of RNA quantitative real-time PCR RNA-seq in vivo mouse work basic staining and prep for imaging.
