A postdoctoral resaerch associate positoin is available in the Gibson lab.The Gibson Lab in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate how biomolecular phase transitions guide higher-order genome structure and influence disease. We combine biochemistry genomics cellular engineering and advanced microscopy to build and perturb chromatin condensates in vitro and in cells with the goal of revealing mechanisms that control genome organization and gene regulation.We are seeking anorganized and creative experimentalistwith atrack record of successand athoughtful and collaborative mindsetto drive high-impact projects at the interface of chromatin biology condensate biophysics and genome regulation.ResponsibilitiesMaster technical disciplines: design and execute rigorous experiments in chromatin biochemistry complex reconstitutions imaging studies and/or genomics to probe condensate mechanisms and genome organization.Develop expertise in communication: maintain excellent experimental records and protocols; prepare datasets for presentations or publication.Be a good lab citizen: work in a friendly and respectful environment where colleagues work together to accelerate research.Find your perspective: pursue fellowships and co-write manuscripts; help shape your project as you grow toward independence.Collaborate effectively: we work with experts at St Jude and abroad to pursue impactful interdisciplinary projects that expand and enrich the perspective and environment for trainees.Learn to lead: pursue active opportunities in mentoring graduate undergraduate and high school scholars in advancing their scientific skillsets.Minimum & Preferred QualificationsPhD (or soon-to-be) in Biochemistry Molecular Biology Biophysics Cell Biology or a related field.Evidence of prior academic successin the form of first author publications.Hands-on strength inone or more: chromatin biochemistry or biophysics protein purification quantitative imaging single-molecule or biophysical assays.Organized clear communicator; thrives in environments withrespectful feedback-richscientific discourse.What youll gainClose mentoring and regular feedback.An opportunity to lead projects that align with your career goals.Access to outstandingshared resources.A collaborative research community at St. Jude.Support for fellowship applications and professional development.To ApplyApplicants should send (1) a CV with contact information for 2-3 references and (2) a cover letter describing their interest in the position to Dr. Bryan Gibson ().St. Jude is an Equal Opportunity EmployerNo Search FirmsSt. Jude Childrens Research Hospital does not accept unsolicited assistance from search firms for employment opportunities.
