Career Coach
Orange Beach City Schools
Reports To: Principal/Director of Student Affairs
Job Goal: To provide students the potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological, and physical growth / maturation through provision of appropriate guidance and learning experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, marketing, communication or related field
- Holds or able to acquire a valid teaching certificate in Alabama
- Experience and knowledge in business and industry preferred
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of College and Career Readiness standards
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned duties or responsibilities
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
- Represent the Career Coach Program in local high schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote CTE programs
- Provide career development guidance for high school students with emphasis on technical programs
- Assist prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments
- Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs
- Assist prospective students with admissions, financial aid and registration procedures for college admission
- Provide guidance to students regarding career choices
- Conduct high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities
- Provide students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices
- Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with high school students
- Coordinate job shadowing opportunities for students
- Maintain an ongoing database of students and classrooms where services are offered
- Provide and/or submit summary reports as requested
- Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with parents and community
- Promote good public relations for school and school system with the general public
- Maintain and improve professional competence
- Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system
- Supports and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)
Terms of Employment/Salary: 9, 10, or 12 months as assigned / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified/Classified Personnel.
