Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPre-K Counts Teacher:Qualifications/Experience Required General Qualifications cited in 55 Pa. Code 3270.241 and Keystone STARSBe a graduate of an approved 4-year college or university with a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in Early Childhood EducationBe a graduate of an approved 4-year college or university and submit documentary evidence of the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester hours in the Theory of Child Development, Early Childhood, or Elementary EducationBe a graduate of an approved 4-year college or university and submit documentary evidence of at least 2 years of successful experience as a teacher in a public, nonpublic non licensed or accredited nursery or Kindergarten school.General Description: Teachers are responsible for participating in a cohesive teaching team, coordination of curriculum and classroom lesson planning, and ensuring effective management of the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to, structuring and implementing lesson plans to ensure developmentally appropriate programming, developmentally appropriate transitional activities, and maintaining the appropriate child/staff ratio. Teachers must understand the children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged.Responsibilities:Provide a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures required by, but not limited to, PA DHS, Pre-K Counts, Keystone STARS, PA Department of Education, OCDEL, and CCCDCImplement lessons relevant to Early Childhood Education and PA Early Learning Standards aligned to the curriculum used by the Pre-K Counts Program at Morrell Neighborhood School, 317 Power Street, Johnstown, PA 15906Maintain positive, professional, open communication with parents/guardians, families, classroom supports, and all individuals within the classroom and school settingUse assessment, observation, documentation, and any necessary means to measure progress and development in children throughout the school year to ensure Kindergarten readinessFollow daily schedule and the Greater Johnstown School District calendar; attend Act 80 and Professional Development as needed or instructed by the Education DirectorMaintain Professional Development Record and requirements (24 hours)Attend all staff meetingsCheck employee email dailyPerform other related duties as required and/or assigned
