Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Mustard Seed in the SouthGate Mall is hiring Prep Cooks!Our close-knit team of Prep Cooks work together to produce high quality food in a fast-paced environment that takes pride in its teamwork and organization. Come find out why many employees have been with us for over 10 years!(*based on experience)Our Prep Cooks are responsible for keeping our kitchens stocked with fresh ingredients, preparing sauces and other recipes from scratch daily, and assisting with kitchen duties such as dishes, station clean and prep, and other duties as requested by a supervisor. When they're happy, they provide exceptional service, which leads to positive guest experiences!As a Line Cook you will have responsibilities such as:Completing food prep duties including:Cleaning and cutting ingredients.Preparing sauces for use in the restaurant.Assisting with stocking and kitchen station set-up. Cleaning and maintaining prep areas.Working with front of house staff to ensure orders fulfill guest’s requests.Cooking food in your station in a timely and effective manner.Plating dishes based on guidance from a senior team member.Compliance with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.And be able to meet requirements such as:The ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.Ability to stand for long periods of time.The ability to reach, bend, and twist as needed.Ability to use hands to control, feel, and operate tools and objects.Experience within a kitchen environmentAble to follow recipes accurately and to make adjustments as needed to fulfill guests’ specificationsThe Mustard Seed was started in 1978 in Missoula, Montana by a group of friends and family. Included in that group were sisters Betty and Nancy Tokumoto and Betty's husband, David Hall. Betty and Nancy grew up in Okinawa, Bangkok, and Hawaii and attended college in Oregon; so, they have a unique ability to blend the cooking styles of the Far East with the tastes of the Pacific Northwest. Our recipes were created or inspired by the Tokumoto sisters.
