JOB TITLE: PRESCHOOL AIDEDEPARTMENT: Special ServicesREPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher / Preschool CoordinatorFLSA STATUS/CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt; Level 3SUPERVISORY DUTIES: NoneAPPROVED ON: 02/14/2023SUMMARY: Provides assistance to preschool children with disabilities or special needs or with typical development while supporting the Districts efforts to provide a safe environment and a meaningful and fulfilling preschool education for all attending preschoolers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Change or place diapers on children as needed and assist children with using toileting and hand-washingAssist with food preparation food service sanitary food handling and storage and assist children by tube feeding when necessaryContinuous observation for signs of illness and infestations such as lice/mites or child abuse or neglectEnsure the safety of all children during outdoor activities in approved designated areasUtilizes sanitary measures such as approved hand washing techniques to ensure a healthy environmentProvide child guidance and administers appropriate and approved measures of discipline; informs supervisor of serious student behavioral problems as neededLead or facilitate developmentally appropriate group activities (centers)Maintains accurate and up to date on health needs nutritional requirements allergies adaptive devices information for classroom childrenSupervise students outside of the classroom where and when requestedComplete and submit all applicable Medicaid Direct Service reimbursement claims paperworkPromote positive student behavior by setting a good example and treating all fellow staff members and students with respect and courtesyAttend ongoing training as needed to stay informed of developments in the professionCollect data on students abilities and input into the assessment systemKNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to use standard classroom equipmentAbility to deal effectively with special needs and pre-school aged childrenAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to maintain confidentialityProduce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community membersKnowledge of applicable Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policiesAbility to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional responseQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredCPI Training desirablePrevious pre-school experience preferredAny equivalent combination of training education and experience that meets minimum requirementsIVP Fingerprint clearance cardAble to obtain current First Aid/CPR certification along with a Tuberculosis test.Computer Proficiency: The ability to read and respond to district emails and interact with the work order tracking system.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
