Montessori experience and certification are required.Our full-time compensation package includes employee contribution benefits such as health, PTO, a competitive rate of pay, and on-going professional development. Salary is based on an average of a 40 hour work week.ResponsibilitiesMaintain safety and general tidiness and cleanliness of the classroom, disinfecting materials and supplies.Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool childrenEmploy a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach childrenObserve each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteemEncourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional argumentsGuide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all timesWrite monthly class newsletters & individual progress reports 2 times per school yearCreate a warm, friendly, supportive, and open relationship with parents/guardians through daily communication and demonstrated availability.SkillsExcellent communication and instructional skillsGreat understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methodsFamiliarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classroomsAbility to act as mediator between childrenFriendly and reliableBalance between a creative mind and a practical acumenBSc/BA in education or relevant fieldChildren's House of Columbia has been a Montessori school serving the Columbia community for the past 50 years. We have a student population of about 80 children, ages 2-6 years old. Affiliated with AMS, full-time staff of 12. We also provide the possibility to pursue further education through Montessori training to become Montessori certified. Columbia is a great town to live in with 110,000 residents, and three college campuses. We are located on campus at the University of Missouri.
