Press Brake Operator

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to set up and operate CNC Amada press brake machines in a machine shop environment. This role involves forming metal and aluminum components to precise specifications while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and experience working with measuring tools in a manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC Amada press brake machines
• Form metal and aluminum materials according to blueprint specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and tape measures accurately
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure correct bends and dimensions
• Use precision measuring instruments, including gauges and calipers
• Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet required tolerances
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop operations

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and general machinist tasks
• Working knowledge of press brake or brake press machine operation and setup
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools

Additional Qualifications

• Trade school or technical training preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn; on-the-job training provided for press brake operations

Work Environment

• Medium-sized machine shop with approximately 40 employees
• The brake press department consists of three team members
• Clean, organized facility following standard machine shop practices
• Not climate-controlled, but generally comfortable and well-maintained
• Located in Middle River

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
