With a transdisciplinary focus AIS teaching assistants also integrate innovative learning strategies while working with a diverse student population.JOB PURPOSEPrimary School teaching assistants collaborate with a full-time teacher sharing the responsibility of the class. Teaching assistants help in implementing curriculum and offer ideas and suggestions regarding classroom instruction. Teaching assistants foster an intentionally inclusive atmosphere where all students feel a sense of belonging.Position Status: 10-month employeeAIS Position Status: Teaching AssistantHours per week: 40 hours (Full-time)FLSA: ExemptReports to: Head of Primary School Start Date: July 28 2025Application Deadline: May 23 applications will be reviewed on a rolling basisRESPONSIBILITIESCollaborate and co-teach with lead teacherWork closely with your classroom lead teacher to prepare and deliver inquiry-based lessons across subjects ensuring a transdisciplinary approach.Differentiate for learner variabilityHelp the lead teacher provide differentiated instruction especially with small groups or individual studentsCultivate relationships with students and build a positive classroom environmentFoster a restorative approach to community-building creating a sense of belonging where students feel valued respected and engaged in relevant real-world learning.Develop an intentionally inclusive and safe learning environment where all voices are seen heard and valuedValue students linguistic cultural racial and ethnic identities fostering a supportive classroom culture.Establish a proactive supportive classroom culture with clear and consistent routinesModel and practice classroom expectations that reinforce respectful behaviors using restorative practices to build independence with thinking and learning Foster a dynamic and joyful learning environment by implementing engaging inquiry-based lessonsInspire a love of learning while promoting critical thinking and curiosity through engaging hands-on activities.Implement best practices for dual language learning and teachingTeach students at various language proficiency levels and provide varied instruction across reading writing listening and speaking for diverse purposes.Communicate with diverse cultural and linguistic groupsCommunicate effectively with students families and colleagues integrating culturally responsive strategiesDemonstrate a flexible mindsetCollaborate with the lead teacher to adjust instructional practices based on feedback.REQUIREMENTSMinimum 3 years of experience in working with children.Proficiency in English is required with additional proficiency in Spanish French German or Chinese highly preferred.Enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural and multilingual environment.Strong interpersonal organizational communication and collaboration skills.Experience with Restorative Practices and/or Responsive Classroom preferred.TO BE CONSIDEREDTo be considered for the above-mentioned position please submit the following items through our online career site a letter of interest resume and email and phone contact information for three professional references with at least one being supervisory in nature by the stipulated deadline.
