Job Description

The Principal Research Scientist is a senior researcher advancing independent and collaborative research in Oral Biology. The role emphasizes scientific independence, expertise in proteomics and integrative omics, mentorship of trainees, and sustained scholarly productivity.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead independent research projects focused on salivary gland biology and saliva proteomics, including comparative and evolutionary studies across human and non-human primate systems.
  • Design, execute, and interpret proteomic, transcriptomic, and multi-omics experiments.
  • Oversee data analysis and integration to generate biologically meaningful insights relevant to oral health and disease.
  • Lead manuscript preparation and publication in peer-reviewed journals; present findings at scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to extramural funding efforts as key personnel through study design and data generation.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and research staff in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Establish and maintain interdisciplinary collaborations and provide subject-matter expertise in proteomics and salivary biology.
  • Support the development and optimization of omics workflows while ensuring rigor, reproducibility, and research compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant biomedical discipline.
    • Demonstrated scientific independence through a strong peer-reviewed publication record.
    • Expertise in proteomics and integrative omics methodologies.
    • Proven record of mentorship and contributions to funded research programs.

      Salary Range
      $60,633 - $65,000
      Additional Salary Information
      The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
