Job Description:Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.Principal Storage EngineerThe RoleAs a Principal Storage Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade storage solutions that support business-critical workloads across the firm’s financial services. You’ll work within a team of technical engineers responsible for distributed block storage infrastructure, ensuring secure, highly available storage services for critical applications.The Expertise You HaveProven experience in distributed storage engineering, including product selection, implementation, and lifecycle management10+ years managing block storage platformsDeep knowledge of data replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery solutionsHands-on experience with multiple block storage arrays and vendorsExpertise in large Fiber Channel SAN environments and iSCSI protocolStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of storage incidentsBackground in capacity planning and performance optimizationSecurity-first mindset ensuring compliance and protection of critical systemsSolid computer science foundation across distributed compute and storageFamiliarity with server and networking technologies (a plus)Understanding of vendor capabilities, budgeting, and business case developmentKnowledge of cloud storage and computing (preferred).The Skills You BringDeep understanding of storage technologies (SAN/Block, NAS, Object, Cloud)Practical experience with storage protocols (Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NVMe)Ability to manage technology lifecycle and maintain complianceStrong coding skills for automation of operationsSolid grasp of cybersecurity principles for secure solutionsExperience with one or more general-purpose programming languagesAbility to manage vendor relationships and influence product developmentLeadership and crisis management during critical incidentsClear communication skills for executive updates and technical discussionsStrong prioritization and project management abilities.The TeamYou’ll join an international team of engineers delivering best-in-class distributed storage services. Your expertise will help drive strategic technology decisions supporting financial customers. Through collaboration with leadership, product management, architecture, and support teams, you’ll ensure timely delivery of critical initiatives. Responsibilities include:Managing lifecycle of multiple vendor block storage platformsPerforming hardware break/fix, firmware updates, and capacity managementCertifying new capabilities through regression testingManaging SAN infrastructure supporting large physical and virtual server environmentsFidelity’s Onsite Working ModelFidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
