OverviewNorth Atlanta Dermatology is hiring a PRN Medical Assistant to support our busy multi-provider clinics. This is a float position to help cover staffing be cross-trained in clinical Medical Assistant duties and Front Desk responsibilities and gain exposure to a variety of dermatology procedures. This role requires travel to all 5 clinic locations as needed - Duluth Suwanee Buford Cumming and Marietta (mileage reimbursment provided).Must be available to work a minimum of 2 weekdays per weekShift schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1 hour lunch)ResponsibilitiesAs a PRN Medical Assistant you will play an important role in supporting patient care and clinic operations across multiple North Atlanta Dermatology locations. This position includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities to help maintain an efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Responsibilities include assisting with patient exams preparing procedure setups documenting in the EMR managing supplies and supporting front desk tasks as needed.This is a travel-based role and you will receive notifications for shifts anywhere from same-day coverage to one month in advance.Clinical ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to exam rooms and confirm name and date of birthObtain and record vital signs medical history and chief complaintScribe for providers during patient visitsAssist provider with in-office dermatology procedures (biopsies excisions cryotherapy injections wound care)Set up procedure trays instruments and equipmentPrepare label and route pathology and lab specimens according to insurance guidelinesDocument clinical notes and provider instructions in the EMRProvide post-procedure and wound-care instructions to patientsSterilize instruments maintain infection control standards and restock exam roomsMonitor nurse line / tasking and respond to patient questions as directedMaintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all timesFront Desk / Administrative ResponsibilitiesCheck patients in and outVerify and update insurance and demographic informationSchedule reschedule and confirm appointmentsHandle inbound phone calls and relay messages in the EMRCollect copays and process paymentsPrepare daily paperwork consent forms and new patient packetsManage scanning faxing and routing of medical recordsCommunicate patient concerns scheduling changes or urgent requests to clinical staffEnsure a positive and professional patient experience at the front deskQualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities:Able to triage patient problems.Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.Experience administering injections.Knowledge of medical terminology CPT and ICD-10 codes.Knowledge of office financial policies.Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer fax copier scanner etc)Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Fluent in EnglishAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful Ability to work in an effective cooperative and courteous manner with staff patients and visitors.Must be able to travel to satellite offices as neededAbility to multi-task prioritize appropriately and work well both individually and as part of a teamAbility to read understand and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to spell sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically. Physical Requirements:Standing and walking for extended periods of timeModerate amount of talking bending twisting reaching and balancing.Use of hands and fingers.Talking and listening in person and on the telephone.Handling of materials such as paper supplies etc.Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.Licensure/Certifications/EducationHigh School Graduate or GED required.Completion of a Medical Assistant (CMA) Program Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of a bachelors degree program in the pre-med or pre-physicians assistant track preferred.CPR certified preferred.1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant Certified Nursing Assistant or other clinical patient care experience preferred. Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
