Our platform supports fire departments with incident reporting workflow management and operational insights. We are entering an exciting phase of growth with a complete modernization of our legacy application. This includes rewriting the product on a modern tech stack using AI assisted development workflows.We are looking for a Product Manager who is energized by the opportunity to shape a new application from the ground up while also supporting our current product. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small fast moving environment and enjoys working closely with engineering and leadership to deliver high quality software.Location: Rochester NY (Hybrid)Company: Alpine Software a Banyan Software CompanySalary Range: 90000 to 110000 USD per year (based on experience and expertise)About the RoleThe Product Manager will play a key role in our product rewrite initiative while also contributing to improvements and enhancements in the existing platform. You will work as part of a lean collaborative team and take ownership of requirements sprint planning backlog prioritization and feature delivery. This position requires strong product discipline the ability to learn complex workflows quickly and an interest in contributing to a meaningful software solution serving first responders.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Management and ExecutionOwn the product backlog including requirements user stories acceptance criteria and prioritizationFacilitate sprint planning story point estimation and ongoing sprint organizationInterface with customers to better understand product needs and opportunitiesWork closely with engineering to ensure requirements are properly understood and deliveredSupport effective release planning and coordinate release documentation with QANew Product RewriteContribute significantly to the rewrite of Alpines legacy fire application into a modern architectureLearn the existing application quickly to help plan feature parity and future enhancementsIdentify gaps inefficiencies and technical challenges in the legacy system and translate them into improved solutionsWork alongside engineering teams using AI tools to accelerate development and requirement generationExisting Product EnhancementsGain a thorough understanding of the current product and workflowsHelp improve existing features and resolve product gapsWork with product leadership to prioritize and define new capabilitiesUX UI and Documentation SupportSupport UX and UI workflows including wireframes and user flows in collaboration with design partnersContribute to the documentation strategy for the new product including structure for release notes and knowledge articlesHelp ensure new product features are documented clearly and consistentlyTechnical Debt and QualityUnderstand technical debt in the legacy application and partner with engineering to prioritize remediationBalance delivering new features with addressing foundational product improvementsMaintain a focus on long term product quality and stability by supporting QA testing efforts as neededCross Functional Collaboration and CulturePartner closely with all internal stakeholders/functional areas and leadership across AlpineTake on additional product initiatives as needed in a small but rapidly growing teamSupport culture building and team engagement initiativesQualificationsRequiredMinimum 3 years of Product Management experience or similar experience in a product adjacent role such as business analysis or software developmentStrong understanding of Agile and Scrum including sprint planning estimation and backlog managementExperience writing detailed requirements user stories and acceptance criteriaAbility to quickly understand complex workflows and translate them into product requirementsExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teamsComfortable working in a small fast paced environment with shifting prioritiesNice to HaveExperience in the fire service EMS or public safety software industryExperience participating in a legacy product rewrite or building a new application from scratchFamiliarity with AI assisted tools for product and design such as ChatGPT Claude or Figma AI featuresExperience supporting UX and UI workflowsUnderstanding of HIPAA considerations and EMS reporting processesWhy Join Alpine SoftwareOpportunity to shape a major new product as part of a highly visible initiative within BanyanHigh ownership role with strong influence on product directionCollaborative and supportive team environmentMission driven work that supports first responders and public safety agenciesBenefits & perks:Competitive salary performance bonusHealth dental vision and 401(k) with matchOn-site role with occasional work-from-home flexibilityPTO company holidays volunteer time offAnnual professional-development budgetDiversity Equity Inclusion & Equal Employment Opportunity at Banyan: Banyan affirms that inequality is detrimental to our Global Teams associates our Operating Companies and the communities we serve.
