Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.Job Summary Utilizing a Service Excellence approach, a Residential Building Services Associate performs a variety of duties in the care, cleaning and light maintenance of residence halls, offices, or other university buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating cleaning equipment, and delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. Provides housekeeping and floor maintenance tasks, operating laundry service machines, and performing special cleaning duties. Responsible for becoming familiar with all buildings and be receptive of additional building assignments. May perform special project work such as pressure washing, cleaning light fixtures or windows using a scissor lift or ladder. Communicates information regarding work order status and takes appropriate action to comply with building and safety regulations. Employee demonstrates an understanding of and maintains conditions that ensure a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. May be called in after hours and on weekends.Responsibilities 1 - Performs basic cleaning (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, vacuuming, and/or replenishing supplies/products) to keep assigned working areas in a clean and orderly condition. Cleans, sanitizes, and details restrooms, refills dispensers, and stocks supplies. Dust and wipes furniture and fixtures. Cleans carpets and upholstery and furniture. Empties and cleans trach receptacles. Cleans common spaces in the residence halls and rearranges furniture to its original configuration. Loads and unloads supplies; stocks and organizes storage areas. Cleans spills and broken glass. As residence halls are pet friendly, may have to clean up after a pet. Tidy and clean the exterior of buildings, using appropriate materials. Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the assigned storage areas. Operates cleaning equipment such as buffers, extractors, pressure washers, walk behinds, scissor lifts, and ride-on scrubbers. Works with others to keep vehicles and employee work areas clean and orderly. Works alone or with a team to complete special assignments related to indoor and outdoor cleaning projects, providing cleaning and porter services at special events, or other tasks as assigned. Works special events (varied hours and weekends) and determines necessary tasks to be performed.2 - Inspects buildings, fixtures, machines, and other structural or mechanical units and notes repair needs using a pre-established checklist. Submits maintenance requests using the existing work order system and reports major or emergency maintenance needs to the Supervisor. Responds to work orders as assigned by the Supervisor and submits work request for work performed without an existing work order. Assists in ensuring compliance with maintenance and custodial policies and procedures.3 - Participates in department provided training and learning opportunities to develop work related skills and abilities. Completes all required training on a timely basis. Recognizes and follows prescribed safety procedures and regulations while following all NFPA and ADA codes and regulations. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the residential facilities for all employees and residents. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.4 - Responsible for light maintenance work duties within the employee¿s abilities. These duties may include replacing lamps, light bulbs, smoke alarm batteries; replacing and/or washing HVAC filters; repairing restroom accessories; replacing window screens; unclogging toilets, lavatories, and urinals; locating and stopping leaking faucets; and making minor repairs to drywall, ceilings, flooring; and painting interior surfaces.Required Qualifications Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma, GED, or some high school classes.Required ExperienceSome high school classes; Some institutional, industrial or commercial custodial experience. Must be able to work special events (varied hours and weekends) with minimal supervision. Must be able to operate various cleaning equipment. Familiarity with operating mobile gadgets such as an iPad and utilizing email. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Preferred ExperienceSix months experience working in custodial or environmental services in a school or hospital setting.Proposed Salary $15.97 Hourly.
