Production Engineer at Elgen Staffing

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of precision manufacturing chemicals, has an immediate need for an experienced Production Engineer, to join their winning team in Pittsburgh. Our candidate of choice will support daily operations and continuous improvement projects. You will have a strong mechanical or chemical engineering background and experience with the design, installation, and startup of process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, reactor systems, and process piping. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead or assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of new process equipment and system upgrades. Evaluate and troubleshoot process, mechanical, or equipment performance issues. Develop and implement process improvements to increase safety, reliability, and production efficiency. Prepare P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and documentation for new and modified systems. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during construction and installation projects. Support preventive maintenance programs. Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, local codes). Provide technical support for production and maintenance staff. Participate in root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. Practical knowledge of pump sizing and installation, heat transfer equipment, pressure vessels, and reactor systems is preferred. Familiarity with piping design, instrumentation, and process controls is preferred. Working knowledge of process safety, and mechanical integrity practices is a plus.
