Job DescriptionJob DescriptionGENERAL PURPOSE: The Production Engineer reports to the Manager of Production Engineering. Develops and evaluates new processes and improves process capabilities, efficiency and productivity.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Identify and execute solutions for improvements in safety, quality, productivity and costsDesign and prepare drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment for improvementsDevelop tooling for new processes and evaluate existing tooling with vendors. Assist in maintenance and improvement of such toolingPrepare and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, Manufacturing Standards, SOP’s and other process documentsDevelop and maintain quality sensors and poka yokesReduce product cost while improving product qualityCommunicate with customers and suppliers to resolve problems and make improvementsProvide engineering support to other departments as they require itDevelop engineering plans and designs to manufacture products in an efficient mannerPerform an analysis of rejects to determine root cause and make or recommend countermeasuresInvestigate and analyze new materials or new production methodsPrepare engineering drawings, cost estimates, manufacturing reports, and minor designsAnalyze quotations and bids and develop recommendations from suppliers and contractorsAnalyze customer claims and concerns to determine root causes and make or recommend countermeasuresOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB INFORMATION:Ensure that new products are properly introduced and manufactured efficiently. Ensure that existing product lines are maintained at specified levels. Improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Review and modify the plant equipment layout to make efficient use of floor space and improve material flow. Travel as required, often on short (same day) notice. Associates at all levels must maintain their Roles and Responsibilities as outlined within SRK-OH’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO9001 and ISO 14001. These industry standards are necessary to ensure continued Customer Satisfaction in relationship with our philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, competencies, experience, knowledge and skills. This should include any specialized knowledge and expertise applicable to the job.Bachelor, Associate or Engineering Technology Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or experience in a manufacturing process.Desired Skills:Strong practical experience with a desire to learn in a hands-on environmentGood communication skillsGood computer skillsAbility to read drawingsPrevious experience in automotive manufacturing, however willing to train a strong candidateKnowledge of material handling principles and equipment; parts manufacturing equipment and processes; automated and manual assembly processes; time and motion studies; tooling and fixture design; engineering mechanics; drafting; heat transfer; electrics and electronics; hydraulics; pneumatics; control system principles and equipment; and statistical process control.
