FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Program Assistant Life on the Farm. Fort Valley State University the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgias second-largest public university in area.Fort Valley State University is an affirmative action equal opportunity institution and does not discriminate against applicants students or employees on the basis of race gender ethnicity national origin sexual orientation religion age disability or marital or veteran status.JOB SUMMARYThe Program Assistant for Life on the Farm will provide necessary backup assistance and program support to the Agriculture & Natural Resources unit Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTravel into various counties to carry out appointments.Interacts with different schools systems and community activities throughout the state of Georgia. The Program Assistant will be required to fulfill all pre-scheduled appointments.Request travel arrangements in connection with programming.Provide the necessary feed and nurture to maintain healthy animals.The program assistant must be computer savvy able to adapt to changes in this profession to promote good customer service and adaptability to change as the need arises.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTPerforms repetitive tasks periodicallyRequired to stand or walk (i.e. some Extension Programs deliveries to other departments) occasionally.Lift and /or move 25 pounds.Regular schedule is Monday through FridayThis position is with Cooperative Extension evenings after 5pm or weekends may be required as requested.Extensive travel MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or higherRelevant experience preferably in an educational environment.USG Core Values Statement The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
