Program Coordinator - The Grief Support Network of Chippewa Valley Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS)
Full Time Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM Hybrid/Remote in WI or Upper MI
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is launching a new initiative-The Grief Support Network of Chippewa Valley-to strengthen grief support across the Chippewa Valley. We are seeking a mission driven Program Coordinator to build community partnerships, expand access to grief resources, and ensure successful implementation of a grant funded by the Eau Claire Community Foundation.
This is an excellent role for someone who is collaborative, organized, and committed to improving mental health supports for individuals and families experiencing grief. When not facilitating programming, this position may work remotely, but the ideal candidate will reside in the Chippewa Valley.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator will carry out the activities outlined in the Grief Project RFP, including:
Community Networking & Needs Assessment
- Connect weekly with Chippewa Valley grief and loss providers, advocates, and community partners.
- Assess regional grief related needs and identify service gaps.
- Establish and maintain a regional grief support provider network.
- Create and maintain a centralized, accessible online database of existing grief resources.
- Respond to phone inquiries Monday-Friday between 8 AM and 4 PM.
- Organize grief and loss networking events.
- Plan and facilitate bi monthly virtual or in person network meetings.
- Identify potential business opportunities for program expansion.
- Collaborate with LSS leadership to position LSS as a leading resource for community grief support.
- Assist in determining unmet grief support group needs in the community.
- Prepare detailed reports as required.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (per COA or licensing requirements).
- Minimum three (3) years of professional experience.
- Experience in:
- Business development in community based services
- Networking and program development
- Facilitating large groups and meetings
- Event planning
- Understanding of mental health concepts, specifically grief and loss.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of community resources, mental health systems, family/child welfare (as applicable).
- Understanding of mandated reporting requirements.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) meeting LSS Driver Safety standards.
- Ability to travel for day trips up to 50%; occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Must reside in Wisconsin or Upper Michigan.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; LSS is unable to provide visa sponsorship.
