Job DescriptionJob Description Job Summary:The Project Accountant is a support position that plays a critical role in supporting project management to ensure the successful financial management and reporting of projects. This position is key to delivering outstanding service to customers and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.The Project Accountant is essential in maintaining the highest standards of quality and project management discipline across assigned projects. The role emphasizes building expertise in project management, client service, and the company’s core service areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp of generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S., analytical skills and the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial reports.Job Responsibilities:Set up projects in the accounting system, ensuring correct accounting and tax considerations as well as all required approvals are on file.Review and maintain contract documents, change orders, and client approvals to understand the scope of work and billing terms.Accurately account for and recognize revenue, work-in-process and gross profit for assigned projects.Monitor project progress and maintain regular communication with project management regarding billing, cost tracking and profitability.Assist project management with financial duties, including reviewing work orders against job scope, contract terms and budget. Create job-related purchase orders and manage open commitments.Complete month-end closing tasks, such as job cost accruals, revenue recognition calculations and work-in-process adjustments.Address monthly project variances by communicating with project management to resolve any issues.Create or review all project-related billings to customers timely and in accordance with contracts, including management of applicable client portals and submitting supporting documentationAssist in accounts receivable and past due collections efforts.Create and submit regulatory reports and filings related to projects.Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.Perform other duties as assigned to support project and financial management objectives. Qualifications:At least 2 to 5 years of construction accounting or other relevant experience required.Knowledge of contract accounting and revenue recognition principles in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.Strong attention to detail.Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills and analytical skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management.Strong computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and construction accounting software.Display strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to understand and analyze components of jobs costs, profit and loss.Ability to serve as an outside representative of the Company.Ability to work occasional overtimeAbility to travel up to 10% of timeEducation Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline or equivalent work experience.What We Offer:Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceCompany paid Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability Insurance PlansEmployee Assistance, Health Advocate, and Wellness ProgramsGenerous 401(k) Plan with 4% match Company paid Financial Advice ProgramPaid Vacation based on years of serviceGenerous PTO planMoran Environmental Recovery is an Equal Opportunity Employer.#HP
