Job Title: Pattern Maker (Metal) 1st Shift Industry: Manufacturing & Production Location: Syracuse NY Shift: 1st Shift 6:00 AM 2:30 PM Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $72508 annually Relocation: Available for the ideal candidate Immigration Sponsorship: Not available Position Overview Eatons ES GEIS CHD division is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker (Metal) to support the fabrication finishing and machining of complex metal patterns core boxes and permanent molds. This role requires advanced craftsmanship CNC programming expertise and precision layout skills to support high-quality manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Pattern & Mold Fabrication Plan layout and perform a wide variety of highly complex hand-finishing operations on rough castings. Construct build-ups and fabricate patterns core boxes and permanent molds using multiple materials. Layout align and fasten split sections to create plates or cope-and-drag plates. Establish interim dimensions and inter-relationships not shown on blueprints. Machining & CNC Programming Set up and operate machine tools including both conventional and CNC machines. Devise and improvise tooling for specialized requirements. Program CNC machining software including the use of SolidWorks and Mastercam. Ensure machining meets required tolerances and draft/shrinkage allowances. Finishing Fitting & Inspection Perform intricate operations including fitting polishing scraping and bench work. Create templates when needed; verify accuracy of completed work. Identify and report errors or inconsistencies in prints/specifications. Process Knowledge & Problem-Solving Apply advanced pattern-making techniques; develop custom processes when required. Perform TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks such as cleaning inspection lubrication and tightening of equipment. Required Qualifications Minimum 4 years of Journeyman-level metal patternmaking experience OR a Journeyman license. High school diploma or GED (accredited institution). Experience setting up programming and operating CNC machinery. Proficiency with SolidWorks and Mastercam. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship (no CPT/OPT/H-1B/TN/E-3 etc.). Preferred Skills Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail. Ability to work from complex drawings with tight tolerances. Problem-solving skills and ability to identify print or specification errors. Experience with pattern-making measurements shrinkage allowances and mold design.
