Job DescriptionJob Description:Description: Summary The Project Engineer directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. As a Project Engineer, the individual works under the technical and administrative supervision of a Project Manager. He/she may work under the technical supervision of a Senior Project Manager or Principal Engineer. He/she will receive technical guidance on unusual or complex projects, and supervisory approval on proposed plans for engineering projects. The employee will be subject to random screening as part of Eustis Engineering’s alcohol and drug use testing program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Project Engineer duties include the following. Others may be assigned.Plans and implements engineering projects including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and staff requirements according to the client’s requirements.Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project.Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.Identifies project staffing requirements and coordinates staffing with supporting organization managers.Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables.Assigns and oversees project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, project design, preparation of technical documents, etc.Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications.Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design problems.Directs integration of technical activities.Prepares interim and completion project reports.Interfaces with clients to provide project status reports and ensure client needs are met.Provides status and progress reports to client, project team, and upper management. Other duties of the Project Engineer include the following.Attends occasional project meetings.Participates in local professional societies (ASCE, ACI, ACEC, etc.). Supervisory Responsibilities The Project Engineer directly supervises employees and subcontract employees on his/her project. He/she carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Requirements: Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or ExperienceAs a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum with four years of work experience after earning the degree. A master’s degree in Civil Engineering is, however, preferred with emphasis in geotechnical engineering or graduate level course work and/or a certificate. The position of Project Engineer requires registration as a Professional Engineer. Professional attainments should include membership in professional societies and active involvement in a leadership role, and delivery of technical presentations to professional groups. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, clients, and the public. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
