JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is dedicated exclusively to capital construction, modernization, and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities are limited to activities associated with planning, design, construction, commissioning, and project management of capital improvement projects. Duties do not include routine maintenance, repair, or operational functions typically performed by Facilities Maintenance & Operations teams. Position Description Provide technical and engineering support to Project Management and Construction Management teams. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including project managers, construction managers, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and facility representatives. Participate in and occasionally lead design and construction meetings. Perform field inspections of construction, demolition, renovation, alteration, and addition projects to verify compliance with contract documents, specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements. Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and related project documentation. Prepare written correspondence, reports, procedures, meeting minutes, and project guidelines. Assist in developing and maintaining weekly and monthly project status reports, including photographic documentation. Review, estimate, negotiate, and process construction change orders and field directives. Review and administer construction and professional service agreements. Manage contractors and consultants, including review and approval of invoices and progress payments. Identify project risks, maintain risk registers, and develop mitigation strategies. Facilitate resolution of design, construction, and coordination issues. Coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, design revisions, and construction documentation. Verify contractor maintenance of record drawings and project closeout documentation. Maintain project records and files in both electronic and hard-copy formats. Review contractor submittals for compliance with project requirements. Prepare board approval documents, project authorization packages, and other project-related administrative documentation. Develop scopes of work and project status reports for consultant and contractor procurements. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in construction project management, engineering, construction administration, or a related role. Additional qualifying experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for the educational requirement. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while demonstrating initiative and accountability. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with educational, institutional, public sector, or large-scale capital construction programs. Experience across all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar professional certification. Experience with sustainability and energy infrastructure projects, including: Energy Information Systems (EIS) Energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades Building Management Systems (BMS) Central plant modernization and decarbonization projects Chiller and HVAC infrastructure improvements Renewable energy systems, including solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) implementation projects At KAYGEN, we are always looking for dynamic, talented and experienced individuals.
