The Job
As the Project Management-Assistant, you are supporting the EJD's Sales and Retail Execution teams with order planning, placement, tracking, and communication to ensure successful and on time completion of EJD store projects. The Assistant Project Manager will participate in project meetings and proactively identify and communicate any order issues or risks. In addition, the Assistant Project Manager will provide direct customer support, training, and communication to ensure a seamless customer onboarding and conversion experience. In partnership with the Associate Project Manager, this role will support in exploring and implementing opportunities for process standardization and improvement and will assist with basic project management responsibilities - including scheduling and leading project meetings and assisting with Smartsheet updates & maintenance.

As the Project Management-Assistant, you are supporting the EJD's Sales and Retail Execution teams with order planning, placement, tracking, and communication to ensure successful and on time completion of EJD store projects. The Assistant Project Manager will participate in project meetings and proactively identify and communicate any order issues or risks. In addition, the Assistant Project Manager will provide direct customer support, training, and communication to ensure a seamless customer onboarding and conversion experience. In partnership with the Associate Project Manager, this role will support in exploring and implementing opportunities for process standardization and improvement and will assist with basic project management responsibilities - including scheduling and leading project meetings and assisting with Smartsheet updates & maintenance.
What you will do
- Manage project milestones and order due dates to ensure lead times are met and the project stays on schedule.
- Create, review and submit orders for store projects. This includes RSC opening stock orders, vendor drop shipments, décor, displays and point of purchase materials.
- Monitor, maintain & update all associated project orders and delivery schedules. Collaborate with RSC leaders to ensure on time delivery
- Schedule & facilitate project intake and project status meetings. Communicate status to all project stakeholders and update Smartsheet with project details
- Review & respond daily to project issues logged into Smartsheet from field team & collaborate with Retail Execution Managers and field team lead during execution
- Process product & SRP returns as well as other claims associated with Retail Execution Projects
- Identify trending issues and escalate to project stakeholders. Be proactive to prevent future issues. Collaborate with team and cross functionally to evolve and improve processes.
- Support with standardizing & enhancing the new business process, templates, and resources. Partner with Project Manager to implement and train out all process changes.
- Must have a bachelor's degree or related retail and project work experience
- Must have three+ years of retail project management or customer service experience or equivalent. Experience in hardware and building materials industry and PMP certification strongly preferred.
- Strong project management, organization, execution, and attention to detail. This person must have the ability to map out a project plan and execute it and work quickly in a high stress, fast paced environment.
- Superior leadership skills. Ability to lead and influence stakeholders and employees that do not report directly to you.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills. This person will need to regularly and proactively update project stakeholders (including customers) throughout the project life cycle.
- Self-starter with minimal supervision needed.
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment
- Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office (Word, & Excel, PowerPoint)
