Operations Director (Contract)
$50 - $55
The Operations Director will serve as the project leader for the installation, integration, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment at a new industrial facility. This role ensures that all production machinery is installed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with construction milestones, project timelines, and budget. The Operations Director will coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver a fully operational production environment that meets performance specifications and supports long-term plant success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the installation and commissioning of all production machinery at the new facility, ensuring equipment is fully operational and ready for handoff to ongoing operations.
- Build, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules that align equipment installation and commissioning activities with overall construction milestones.
- Coordinate equipment delivery, rigging, placement, and startup sequencing to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
- Serve as the on-site project lead, acting as the central point of contact and ensuring alignment and clear communication across all stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, engineers, and internal teams.
- Monitor project budget, track costs, and manage change orders to keep the project within financial targets and identify variances early.
- Drive safety compliance and enforce jobsite standards to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel involved in the project.
- Verify that all equipment meets defined performance specifications and quality standards before formal handoff to operations.
- Review and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, layout drawings, and equipment schematics to guide installation, integration, and troubleshooting activities.
- Oversee the setup of CNC machines and other industrial equipment, ensuring proper configuration and integration into the production environment.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to provide status updates, manage risks, and support strategic decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
- 510+ years of experience in industrial project management or capital projects, with a focus on manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven experience leading large-scale installation and commissioning of production machinery or industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and facility layout drawings as they relate to equipment placement and process flow.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and equipment schematics to direct installation and integration work.
- Proficiency with project management and tracking tools such as MS Project and Excel, including schedule development and progress reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor budgets, manage costs, and handle change orders on complex industrial projects.
- Strong communication skills and a confident leadership presence on active job sites, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
- Deep familiarity with industrial environments, including equipment installation, machine setup, and commissioning practices.
- Commitment to enforcing safety standards and jobsite compliance throughout all phases of the project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with construction management in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on exposure to CNC machines, industrial machinery, and machine setup processes.
- Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and vendors in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Comfort working with cutting-edge recycling and manufacturing technologies and integrating them into new facilities.

Work Environment
This position is based in a newly built industrial facility focused on modern manufacturing and recycling technologies. You will work closely and frequently with contractors, engineers, and vendors on an active job site, often moving between office and production floor areas. The role may require extended hours and weekend work during critical installation and commissioning phases to meet project milestones. The environment is fast-paced and project-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, coordination, and clear communication across all stakeholders.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
