PROJECT MANAGER (Affordable Requirements Ordinance - ARO) Job Number: 410204-1 Description JOB ANNOUNCEMENT PROJECT MANAGER (Affordable Requirements Ordinance - ARO) DEPARTMENT OF HOUSINGBureau of Housing Development Number of Positions: 1(additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $89,112.00New hires are paid the starting rate. Current employees' pay rate is determined by their job title and years of service Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CST on 01/04/2026 Department of Housing website This position serves as the manager of the Affordable Requirements Ordinance (ARO), which coordinates the production of affordable housing units and other contributions generated by market-rate development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES* Manages and oversees the implementation of the ARO from the time a project triggers the ARO through the completion of the 30-year ARO term* Manages and oversees work of ARO Project Coordinator* Staff ARO-related policy efforts, including the Inclusionary Housing Task Force* Serves as the primary contact and liaison on the ARO for elected officials, Mayor's Office, Plan Commission, Chicago Community Land Trust, and other City departments and community organizations* Manages delegate agency contracts, as applicable* Ensures best practices and performance are being realized in the implementation of the program, including drafting and maintaining rules and policies to ensure that any proposed exceptions are thoughtfully considered, and the program runs smoothly and reaches its intended impact* Prepares or oversees the preparation of quarterly reports on ARO and related funds, prepares narrative summaries and statistical reports of program and Affordable Housing Fund activities, as well as bi-weekly Mayors reports and any other requested reports* Manages and updates design and functionality of ARO database and ARO website Additional duties may be required for this position Location: City Hall, 10th FloorDays: Monday - FridayHours: 9:00am - 5:00pm THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Nine (9) years of work experience in project management or project coordination, OR* Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree PLUS seven (7) years of project management or program coordination work experience, OR* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree PLUS five (5) years of project management or program coordination work experience, OR* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree PLUS four (4) years of project management or program coordination work experience SELECTION REQUIREMENTSThis position requires applicants to complete an interview.
