JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Manager Construction and Capital Projects

This position leads and supports multiple construction and renovation projects, ranging in value from approximately $250,000 to $5 million. The role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization, exercising independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload. The Project Manager oversees scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support project executives on multiple concurrent projects and assignments, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Develop detailed project scopes and schedules for assigned construction and renovation projects.
  • Identify and address areas of concern related to project risk, logistics, budget, and scope, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate and track all vendor Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including preparation, distribution, and evaluation.
  • Interact and negotiate with contractors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Prepare and update project status reports, process invoices, update tracking reports, and maintain organized files for due diligence and financial documentation.
  • Actively track each aspect of project performance against schedules and critical path milestones, adjusting plans as needed to maintain progress.
  • Coordinate the activities of subcontractors and manage the relocation of technical functions as required by the project.
  • Demonstrate a proactive focus on meeting client and project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure a comprehensive safety plan is in place and verify that all activities are performed with a safety-first methodology.
  • Assist the local Project Development Services team in meeting Adjusted Gross Margin targets at regional and national levels, as set annually by the Management Executive Committee.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of Project Development Services technology and tools required for assigned projects.
  • Travel to project locations as required to oversee progress, coordinate stakeholders, and resolve issues on site.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, client representatives, and internal team members to ensure clear communication and smooth project execution.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of relevant work experience in project management, construction management, or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction or renovation projects, including responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Proven ability to prepare, manage, and track project budgets accurately and transparently.
  • Solid understanding of technical requirements for construction and renovation projects, including building systems and related processes.
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize effectively while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced team environment or working independently.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with architects, contractors, client representatives, and team members.
  • Familiarity with architectural and engineering drawings and the ability to interpret and work from these documents.
  • Experience using project-related technology tools and systems to support planning, tracking, and reporting activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Project experience in biopharma, research facilities, laboratories, or vivarium environments.
  • Professional certifications such as LEED, AIA, PE, and/or PMP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including tools for documentation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple projects.
  • Experience contributing to financial performance targets, including margin or profitability goals, within a project development or services organization.

Work Environment

This role is based on site in Reno, Nevada, with regular travel to various project locations as needed. The work environment centers on active construction, renovation, and laboratory-related settings, requiring close coordination with field teams, contractors, and technical personnel. The position offers the potential to convert to a full-time role, with a highly competitive compensation range upon conversion. The environment is fast-paced and project-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, collaboration, and the effective use of technology to manage project scope, schedule, and budget.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reno, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $73.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
