Based in Fort Wayne Indiana with over 270 employees Brooks Construction provides asphalt concrete earthwork and pipe operations across northern Indiana and northwestern Ohio using best practices and innovative techniques to give our customers a quality product.Job SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of heavy highway and civil construction projects ensuring their successful completion on time within budget and according to specifications. This role involves leading project planning coordination scheduling cost control safety quality assurance and communication with internal teams and external stakeholders including INDOT municipalities clients vendors and subcontractors. The Project Manager serves as the key point of contact between the office and the field ensuring operational efficiency and financial performance.Essential Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesAnalyze project plans specifications and contract documents to develop scopes of workDevelop and manage project budgets schedules and resource plans from kickoff to closeoutHelps coordinate project teams including field superintendents foremen subcontractors and vendorsManage contracts permits submittals purchase orders and change ordersSchedules needed labor equipment and materials usage to maximize efficiency and profitabilityPrepare and maintain detailed construction records and documentation including INDOT-required reportsLead project meetings and maintain regular communication with clients inspectors and engineersEnsure compliance with safety regulations environmental standards and quality assurance proceduresTrack job costs and oversee timely billing and cost reporting including progress payments and retainage releasesTroubleshoot and resolve project issues while managing risk and escalating concerns as neededSupport pre-bid efforts including quantity takeoffs and gathering subcontractor and vendor quotesPromote company values policies and initiatives related to safety ethics and continuous improvementOther Duties/ResponsibilitiesAssist others in department as neededPerform other related duties as assignedRequired Skills and AbilitiesStrong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyDeep understanding of heavy highway road and civil construction practices and INDOT specificationsProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints drawings and construction documentsAbility to analyze budgets schedules and project performance dataExcellent communication skills (oral and written) and stakeholder relationship managementHigh level of organization attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environmentStrong problem-solving negotiation and decision-making skillsValid drivers license and willingness to travel to various job sitesEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering Project Management or related field preferred; or eight (8) years equivalent experience in heavy highway construction A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing INDOT heavy highway or civil infrastructure projects is requiredEquivalent combinations of education and work experience will be consideredExperience with estimating scheduling and project financials is highly valuedSkilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook Project) with familiarity in Bluebeam OnStation ITAP or other project management software/applications preferredHands-on field construction experience is a plusPhysical RequirementsLifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs frequentlyPushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs frequentlyDriving: Regular driving of automatic and possibly standard transmission vehiclesMovement Requirements: Frequent standing walking and keyboarding; occasional sitting bending squatting kneeling twisting climbing crawling and reaching above shoulder levelUse of Hands: Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and handling materialsEnvironmental Exposure: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat and cold dust wet surfaces uneven terrain and standing on concrete; frequent travel; frequent work in both indoor and outdoor environmentsWorking EnvironmentTime split between office and field environments (approximately 50/50)Work long hours and potentially 6 days a week with the understanding nights could be neededTravels up to 125-mile radius from the main officeInteraction with internal departments (e.g. Safety Accounting Field Operations) and external partners (e.g. clients municipalities subcontractors)Must be comfortable working in high-pressure deadline-driven settingsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesMonitors and coordinates multiple crews subcontractors and project team membersProvides leadership performance feedback and direction to ensure successful project outcomesHow to Apply:Online: Visit to access our online Employment Application by clicking View Open Positions and Apply Now!.
