JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description- Project Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of complex customer network deployment projects, specializing in optical transport technologies such as DWDM, OTN, and packet networking for Data Centers, Central Offices, and Fiber Huts. Focus on managing project scope, schedules, budget, and quality to ensure customer satisfaction and meet service target margins. Key Responsibilities- Project Execution: Lead Engineering, Furnishing, and Installation (EF&I) projects from initiation to closeout. Customer Interface: Act as the primary point of contact for project-related communications, providing regular status updates, managing risks, and coordinating project deliverables. Service Providers/Privately Owned Utilities/Government Owned Utilities. Financial & Schedule Management: Ensure projects remain within budget, achieve target margins, and meet contracted delivery dates. Resource Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Field Operations, Sales, and Logistics. Pre-Sales Support: Contribute to Statements of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP). Technical Governance: Ensure compliance with customer network designs and technical standards, including troubleshooting and escalations Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality installations by adhering to Telcordia GR-1275 and other customer-specific standards. Required Qualifications & Skills- Experience & Certifications: PMP certification or equivalent, 10+ years managing network deployment/construction projects. Experience working on government projects a plus (dealing with bureaucracy), and specific experience in implementing optical transport projects (DWDM/OTN). Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Ciena products (e.g., 6500 packet-optical platform), network management systems (NMS), and network design. Project Management Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Strong skills in risk mitigation and change management. Soft Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills in a matrixed environment. Require someone that is personable, experienced in managing complex, long term projects, and someone that can drive customers towards goals. Clear and effective communication are a must-have along with US citizenship due to the nature of working with government entities. Travel: On occasion to visit customers for QBR/other (4-5 times per year on average).
