Location: Tysons Corner VA (HQ) Onsite with Regular TravelTeam: Early Planning GroupEmployment Type: Full-TimeClearance Requirement: Must be a U.S. CitizenAbout the RoleThis role is ideal for an engineer early in their career (25 years) who is passionate about supporting complex mission-critical infrastructure projectsespecially large-scale data centers and secure facilities. As a Project Planning & Commissioning Engineer you will support early planning coordination and commissioning activities that bring high-performance electrical mechanical and control systems online safely efficiently and on schedule.This is an onsite hands-on position based at the Tysons Corner headquarters working closely with design construction and commissioning teams across multiple disciplines.Key ResponsibilitiesEarly Project Planning SupportAssist with developing cost models manpower forecasts and material tracking systems.Support alignment of schedules and expectations across engineering construction and commissioning stakeholders.Commissioning Execution SupportHelp plan coordinate and execute commissioning activities.Support system readiness checks testing procedures SOPs/MOPs and turnover documentation.Data-Driven Project ExecutionUse tools such as Excel or Power BI to analyze project schedules commissioning data and test outcomes.Provide insights to improve efficiency sequencing and operational readiness.Cross-Functional Field CollaborationWork with design engineers construction teams field technicians and operations personnel.Support troubleshooting and ensure seamless system integration during commissioning.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate documentation for commissioning test results and safety compliance.Prepare reports checklists and closeout packages.What Were Looking ForTechnical ExperienceExperience or coursework in:Power distribution systems (UPS ATS generators switchgear)Building automation and mechanical systemsCommissioning tools test scripts SOPs/MOPs and checklistsSystem testing field troubleshooting and system readiness verificationProject planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6Analytical & Planning SkillsData analysis forecasting or project controls experienceAbility to support resource planning scheduling and material trackingStrong skills with Excel Power BI or other reporting toolsSoft SkillsCurious hands-on problem solver comfortable in dynamic field environmentsStrong communicator able to collaborate across diverse teamsHighly detail-oriented with disciplined documentation habitsFlexible and willing to travel to active project sitesCareer Path May Include:Project Planning EngineerCommissioning EngineerProject Manager or Technical Lead (Mission-Critical Systems)We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process such as reviewing applications analyzing resumes or assessing responses.
