PROMISE Program 7th Grade Math Instructor (Carbondale) at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy

OverviewOverview:IMSA is committed to equity and excellence including the active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSAs PROMISE Program addresses the unique challenges of culturally linguistically and economically diverse (CLED) students who have an interest in STEM education by providing academic enrichment programming at low to no cost. This grant-funded program is open to all students especially Black or African American students Latinx students students who qualify for the national free or reduced-price meal program as well as students from rural Illinois counties.Carbondale Innovation HubCurrently we are seeking a Math Instructor for the Spring 2026 PROMISE Program which serves non-IMSA students currently enrolled in the 7th grade. The program will run on 8 designated Saturday this program candidates will work with students that have varied academic backgrounds.Program Dates and Details:Expected work hours are Saturdays 8:30AM - 12:30PMMaximum number of participants: 50 divided into two groupsSession Dates:February 28 - includes parent orientationMarch 21March 28April 4April 18April 25May 2May 16Program Schedule:Two 90 minute classes each consisting of approximately 25 students.Each class will include a 5-10 minute break for snacksSchedule:Class 1: 9:00 AM - 10:30 AMClass 2: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PMResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Develop a daily lesson plan based on math activities provided by the IMSA Outreach department. Approved original materials may be used as supplements.Lead activities with assistance from 1 or 2 student tutors.Maintain a safe respectful and encouraging environment for participating studentsQualificationsThis position pays $35.00 per hour.
