OverviewOverview:IMSA is committed to equity and excellence including the active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSAs PROMISE Program addresses the unique challenges of culturally linguistically and economically diverse (CLED) students who have an interest in STEM education by providing academic enrichment programming at low to no cost. This grant-funded program is open to all students especially Black or African American students Latinx students students who qualify for the national free or reduced-price meal program as well as students from rural Illinois counties.Belleville CampusCurrently we are seeking a Science Instructor for the Spring 2026 PROMISE Program which serves non-IMSA students currently enrolled in the 7th grade. The program will run on eight Saturday sessions with the first session designated as Parent this program candidates will teach students that have varying academic backgrounds.Program Dates and Details:Expected work hours are Saturdays 8:30AM - 12:30PMMaximum number of participants: 50Session Dates:February 28Parent OrientationMarch 7March 14March 21March 28April 11April 18April 25Program Schedule:Three 50 minute classes each session consisting of approximately 17 students per class.Schedule:Class 1: 9:00 AM - 9:50 AMClass 2: 10:05 AM - 10:55 AMClass 3: 11:10 AM - 12:00 PMResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Develop a daily lesson planthe same lesson will be taught three times each Saturday. This may include approved original curriculum or curriculum provided by the IMSA Outreach departmentLead lectures and hands on activities with assistance from student tutorsMaintain a safe respectful and encouraging environment for participating studentsOther information:Instructors may have the assistance of pre-service teachers or student tutors who can help facilitate activities for small groups.QualificationsThis position pays $35.00 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.
