Job Description:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionateMental Health Technicianto join our team. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to individuals with mental health conditions.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct care to patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities.Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient outcomes.Monitor patient behavior and provide emotional support, guidance, and crisis intervention as needed.Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, transfers, and discharges.Conduct phlebotomy duties, take manual vital signs, weights, and urine, stool, and sputum specimens as designated.Required Skills and Qualifications:CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification within 30 days.High School or GED Equivalent.UNMH Mental Health Tech Training.1 year directly related experience.Benefits:Detailed Responsibilities:* Provide care to patient in a manner that considers and promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment* Assist with the physical needs of patients; may include taking manual vital signs, weights, and urine, stool, and sputum specimens as designated* Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of patient treatment programs* Maintain confidentiality of patient records, adhering to HIPAA guidelines* Follow and maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standardsWorking Conditions:Physical Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.Professional Growth:Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops.Compliance:Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.Crisis Response Team:Ensure and monitor that the Crisis Response Team is adequately staffed per shift as appropriate and assigned.Safety:Assist patients to regain behavior control; escort patients to safe area using least restrictive means possible; apply restraints as needed; assist with administration of emergency medications and daily living activities;Qualifications:Related Education and Experience may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a UNMH Mental Health Tech Training program, along with one year of experience in a mental health setting. Certification in CPR for Healthcare/BLS within 30 days is also required.Other Duties:Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
