Psychiatrist at Children's Institute
JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
Uses independent judgement and discretion to provide psychiatric services to children and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Provides psychiatric services within scope of practice to children and families.
• Provides psychiatric evaluations for Medi-Cal clients.
• Available for crisis calls and will receive payments for crisis calls and ensures coverage during periods of absence.
• Consults with therapists, care coordinators and other staff regarding client care.
• Documents mental health services according to DMH standards.
• Coordinates completion of Client Treatment Plan (CTP) or equivalent goal for psychiatric services provided and renews goals annually in conjunction with the therapist.
• Completes all progress notes and all documents as required by agency policy within 48 hours.
• Makes any and all requested corrections to progress notes and other documentation with 24 hours.
• Submits sub-contractor invoice no later than Tuesday of the following week.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine is required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
• Spanish/ English bilingual preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
• Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
• Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
• Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Board Certified in Child Psychiatry
• Clearance from SAM.gov
• Clearance from background investigation through CA Department of Justice including state, local, and federal-level review which may include, but shall not be limited to, criminal conviction information. Safely Surrendered Baby Law information provided to its employees (Fingerprinting)
• Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice coverage (Insurance Coverage Requirements: Professional Liability - $1M per occurrence/$3M aggregate.
• DEA license in the United States.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Must have intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and E-mail.

• Proficient in Electronic Health Records System
• CII will assist in enrollment in Electronic Health (EHRS) Exym, PAVE and Medi-Cal RX Provider web Portal

COMPENSATION
• Hourly hire rate: $350.00 per billable hour of service. Up to $110,000.00 per year and increased upon discussion.
• In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
