VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) – Canton, Ohio

The VA is seeking a General Psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team at our large, well-established Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Canton, Ohio, serving our nation’s Veterans in a supportive, collegial, and mission-driven environment.
What is a BHIP?
A Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) is the VA’s team-based model of mental health care. Psychiatrists work collaboratively with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals to provide comprehensive, Veteran-centered treatment. The BHIP model emphasizes continuity of care, shared decision-making, and strong clinical support, allowing psychiatrists to practice high-quality medicine without feeling isolated.
This position also collaborates closely with PACT (Patient Aligned Care Team), ensuring integrated, whole-person care for Veterans.
Position Highlights

Patient-centered practice with time to provide thoughtful care

Average daily volume: 10–13 patients

New patient appointments: 60 minutes

Follow-up visits: 30 minutes

Protected lunch: 1 full hour

Schedule: Typically 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (flexible schedules considered)

Call:

No mandatory call
-
Rare (approximately once per month) evaluation call

Low intensity and well supported

Opportunity to teach and discuss cases with residents

Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship
(Non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy) -
MD or DO degree from a VA-approved medical school

Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
