We do this by providing comprehensive, innovative and compassionate social service programs for everyone who walks through our door and throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region.Position Summary:The psychotherapist will join the committed and compassionate team of the JFCS Counseling department, providing mental health services including individual counseling, group counseling, support groups, education, and community support. This full-time position is responsible forevaluation, assessment, treatment, and coordination of care as needed for primarily older adult clients (over 60).Uniquely, all therapists at JFCS work with specific clients, as well asaddressingchronic and emerging community needs.This therapist willparticipate in the development of innovative pre-death and grief programming that will caringly guide a full spectrum to age groups affected by loss.In addition, this therapist will provide brief support services at a community senior hi-rise building on a weekly basisas well as leading community-basedgrief groups.This therapist will also assist in the development of specialized training and staff development activities, including collaboration with other departments.They will participatein case reviews, meetings, trainings, and all unit research activities.Duties and Responsibilities:Counseling:Undertakes adult therapy and/or group counseling cases.Conducts intake evaluations for all assigned referrals, including administrative and diagnostic assessments that assist in formulating an appropriate diagnosis.Collaborates with The New Riverview on brief support services and support groups.Facilitates grief support groups for the community as assigned.Assist in development and provision of bereavement support services to grieving individuals and families, and pre-bereavement resources and supports.Schedules and coordinates client referrals as warranted by individual client needs.Completes all required clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and treatment reviews.Take part in the AgeWell Pittsburgh collaboration, attending bimonthly meetings, discussions with other AgeWell Pittsburgh staffOther duties as assigned.Training and Consultation:Provides on-going and specialized consultation, training and skill development activities for service providers and family life education requests.Participates and presents cases for review and discussion with the clinic psychiatrist and other professional staff of the counseling unit.Participates in the development of training seminars, workshops, and tele-conferences for presentation to JFCS staff and other mental health professionals.Participate in training and development activities including those which would result in increased responsiveness to the clients served and/or increased cultural awareness and those suggested in supervision.AdministrationRepresents JFCS at professional meetings and conferences as assigned.Completes timesheets weeklyOther duties as assigned.Qualifications:LCSW, LPC, or other licensed counselor eligible to be credentialed with health insurance panels., specifically to be credentialed with Medicare.Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of PA or licensed elsewhere and eligible to be licensed in the Commonwealth.Experience in a clinical setting preferred.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels with co-workers, family members, supervisors and other service providers.Must have cultural sensitivity to the populations served by the agency.Availability some evenings and rare weekends.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
