DescriptionThe salary for this position is: $4446 - $5914 monthlyThurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) is recruiting for a Public Health Program Assistant IIfor our Environmental Health Division.As a Public Health Program Assistant II you will play a vital role in providing information to the public while also providing support to the Environmental Health division staff. Supporting our Food and Environmental Services (food pools and schools) section you will be responsible for ensuring efficiency and accuracy of daily operations. If you are an organized detail-oriented professional with a passion for public service and environmental health we would love to hear from you!Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following:Provide program-specific information to the public via phone mail or in-personProvide administrative and technical support to Environmental Health staffCreate maintain and update information in program-specific databases programs and spreadsheetsPrepare reports including daily application processing reportEstablish and maintain files records accounts and other information sources as needed to support and document program activitiesCreate and monitor office procedures and filing systems for effectiveness and adjust as neededResponsible for department archiving and maintaining archived records and filesMonitor purchase and coordinate distribution of program inventory including brochures and department supplies in addition to assisting with supply ordering for the divisionReview program fees prepare billings maintain cash receipt records balance daily cash receipting and make depositsResponsible for tracking quality assurance responding to and reporting of Environmental Health program requirementsCompose draft proofread and edit reports letters newsletters spreadsheets PowerPoint presentations and other types of correspondence as neededCreate monthly notices and bills and track and process payments in Permit Tracking Database Microsoft Access and Point and Pay payment systemProcess and distribute incoming mail and scan and route incoming applications and historic program recordsContact customers to obtain additional information for the program if neededMay be required to conduct research to appropriately answer program-specific questionsPerform other work as required or assigned including but not limited to a 24/7 response during public health emergency situations and disease outbreak investigationsTo view the full job classification click here:Public Health Program Assistant IIWORKING CONDITIONS:Work Environment - Quiet office setting in Olympia WashingtonSchedule - Monday Friday 8:00am 5:00pm with the potential option of alternative or compressed schedulesTravel Requirements - Travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings and to perform field workCustomer Interactions - Daily interactions with Thurston County staff and the publicWHO WE ARE:Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) is Thurston Countys local health jurisdiction and human services department and is responsible for protecting the health and promoting the well-being of all people who live work and play in Thurston County.
