Job Description
Work hard have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Senior Manager Public Policy will lead Amazons public policy efforts before Congressional Republicans. Like our business interests our policy issues are broad forward-thinking and driven by what is best for our customers. The Senior Manager Public Policy will have the responsibility to develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon at the federal helping to set the public policy and advocacy agenda for Amazons businesses the Senior Manager will work collaboratively and transparently with others in public policy legal and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Senior Manager will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions and help coordinate external advocacy efforts outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Senior Manager will be responsible for effectively educating Members of Congress and their staff on related policy issues.As appropriate the Senior Manager will work with others on the public policy team to facilitate high-level meetings between executives and key stakeholders including legislature regulatory and industry association and alliance partners to promote and advocate the companys public policy objectives. The Senior Manager will work with others in public policy to determine maintain and staff appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and political organizations.This position will be based in Washington DC.- Bachelors degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law Political Science Public Policy Public Affairs Economic Development)- A minimum of 10 years of relevant public policy experience a keen working understanding of engaging with federal policymakers and broad government relations strategy experience.- An ability and desire to travel is required.- Experience in regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazons business and a manager of complex political relationships.- Strong written and verbal communications skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging.- Law Degree or Masters Degree.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status disability or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $148300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $245200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
