Job Description
Shift 1 (United States of America)Job Summary:The Buyer/planner role which may include but are not limited to material procurement production planning inventory control outsourcing and vendor selection. Responsible for the tactical procurement of all direct purchased materials and services as required to support daily production needs. Work with suppliers to expedite material requirements to meet customer needs. Partner with Strategic Supply to create sourcing strategies and work with supply base on continuous improvement projects.Essential/Key Functions:Strategic thinker strong analytical skills able to synthesize considerable and complex dataMake decisions based on Cost lead time and qualityTrack prepare and maintain production levels within the organizationDevelop relationships and maintain frequent communication with suppliers and carriers to expedite and confirm ship dates and determine arrival times ensuring updated information is communicated across the company.Forecast track and identify shortages within the production environmentMaintain AB and C classifications by SKU numberUpdate POs with supplier confirmation informationReview and react to MRP messagesMonitor supplier open order reports to meet requirementsProcess RMAs and CARs/Non-Conformances with SuppliersAssess suppliers delivery performance; make recommendations regarding ability of suppliers to meet delivery needs and schedules.Provide reports tracking purchasing performance and evaluating vendor performance.Coordinate order shipment troubleshooting and communications with suppliers and logistics.Review financial statements and other performance data to measure goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and improvement.Implement departmental policies goals objectives and procedures as necessaryAssist in training new employees in and outside the departmentTracking and review of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)Communication and alignment with OpSys on part structureMonitor interplant transfersMake recommendations for productivity and/or method improvementsFollow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe mannerOther duties as assigned by managementMinimum (Required) Qualifications:Bachelors degree desired5 years related professional experience in purchasing / supply chainPurchasing experience within a manufacturing environmentCPM and/or APICS certification a plusundefinedKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of Supply Chan / Procurement best practicesStrategic thinker strong analytical skills able to synthesize considerable and complex dataChange Agent skill with enabling change strong influencing abilities particularly with client groups and frontline teamsPrevious experience in lean manufacturingExceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of managementStrong PC skills (Excel PP Word Access)Team player able to work well across business operations and develop strong business teamsMust support mission and purpose of the company and be committed to professional and personal growthAbility to work as part of a team and interface with other departmentsAbility to prioritize in the face of multiple tasksAbility to be proactive when dealing with customer complaints or requestsHigh level of self- motivation and job planning able to work independently and meet deadlinesJDE experience a plusWho we are:Milacron is a global leader in the manufacture distribution and service of highly engineered and customized systems within the $27 billion plastic technology and processing industry.
