Job DescriptionJob DescriptionShift:  3rd (11 PM until 7 AM) The training for this position will be on 1st shift for approx. 3 months. Description of a Typical Day:The QC Shop Inspector is responsible for inspecting machined copper and aluminum electrical connectors in an active manufacturing environment.  A typical day for this person involves gathering part samples from all of the machines that are in production.  The inspector then checks the parts for quality defects, using hand-held gaging equipment such as calipers, thread plugs, and gage pins while referencing blueprints and other quality documentation for product specifications.  After inspection, the inspector reports the results using Microsoft Excel templates and emails sent via Outlook, and also communicates the results verbally to the machine operators.  The inspector serves as the main quality point-of-contact for their respective shift, and will be expected to answer quality-related questions that machine operators may have in a professional and helpful manner – good interpersonal communication skills are a must.  Additionally, the inspector will provide quality training to machine operators on an as-needed basis.  The inspector will also conduct gage calibrations along with general audits of the manufacturing environment for unlabeled product, and assist with receiving of raw material.  On occasion, there may be other tasks requested that are within the training level and physical capabilities of the inspector. Requirements:·         Strong observational skills and attention to detail – these are the most important skills required.·         Problem solving skills.·         Ability to use quality gaging equipment such as calipers, thread gages, and gage pins; or, the willingness and ability to learn how to use these gages as taught by Quality Leadership.·         Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints.·         Basic computer skills such as navigating file menus, sending emails, and using Microsoft Word and Excel.·         Good interpersonal communication skills – the inspector must be willing and able to help machine operators, and mesh well with the other QC inspectors.·         Ability to work independently without requiring constant guidance or supervision from QC Leadership.·         Ability to read at the sixth-grade level, and understand written instructions in the English language.·         Ability to speak and understand verbal instructions in the English language.·         Maintain an organized workspace.·         Ability to lift and handle pails of parts that weigh up to 35 lbs.·         Ability to walk up to one mile per day (moving parts from machines to work area, obtaining necessary gaging equipment, and similar tasks).·         Familiarity with ISO 9001 is a plus, but not necessary.
