Our Mobile Crisis Program delivers rapid, in-person mental health crisis response and stabilization services for individuals in their home or community settings. This program is essential for diverting individuals from emergency departments and inpatient hospitalization, helping them remain safely in the least restrictive environment.Position SummaryThe Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will serve as a front-line responder in the Mobile Crisis Program, providing urgent, on-site mental health assessments, de-escalation interventions, crisis planning, and linkage to community services. The QMHP will operate as part of a two-person mobile team and coordinate care across providers, law enforcement, hospitals, and families to ensure effective crisis resolution.CompensationThe pay range for this position is between $24 and $35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Quarterly bonuses are available based on productivity and performance.Key Responsibilities Respond to community-based crisis calls with a licensed or supervisory team member within required timeframes. Conduct face-to-face clinical assessments, safety evaluations, and de-escalation interventions at homes, schools, shelters, or other settings. Develop individualized crisis and safety plans in collaboration with the client and natural supports. Coordinate immediate referrals and transportation to higher levels of care when needed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation consistent with Medicaid, DBHDS, and agency standards. Participate in a rotating schedule of on-call availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Collaborate with emergency services, law enforcement, and community partners during high-risk situations. Attend mobile crisis trainings, debriefings, and team meetings.Qualifications Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Human Services (Required) Must meet qualifications as a QMHP-A or QMHP-Trainee as defined by DBHDS Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals in mental health crisis or emergency services (Preferred) Strong crisis assessment, verbal de-escalation, and safety planning skills Ability to work independently in high-stress and unpredictable environments Valid Virginia driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle Willingness to work flexible hours and travel throughout designated service areasPreferred Competencies Certified in crisis response training (CPI, Mandt, or equivalent) Knowledge of local mental health resources and diversion protocols Trauma-informed care approach Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Bilingual or multilingual abilities (preferred but not required)Benefits Competitive hourly compensation with quarterly productivity bonuses Paid training and professional development in mobile crisis and trauma care Opportunities for clinical supervision and licensure advancement Flexible scheduling and shift options Supportive interdisciplinary crisis response team culture
