If you have a passion for excellence seek opportunities to engage in mission critical work and consistently exceed expectations apply now to join our professional family.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThis position is responsible for maintaining quality control processes testing products and recording and analyzing results gathered to ensure products meet quality specifications. This position will support quality by performing tests of components according to safety standards standard operating procedures and other related standards. Major Duties and Responsibilities:Perform accurate analysis following appropriate standard test methods and report data in a timely mannerOperate various analytical instrumentation for chemical and physical testing such as analytical balances ovens wet chemistry and tensile testingKeep all laboratory instrumentation and equipment calibrated and in working orderDocument inspection results in logbooks worksheets and information systemsVerify inspection data to determine conformance and compliance to specificationsInterface/communicate with engineers and/or managers to describe inspection resultsDocument track and complete nonconformance reportsDetect erroneous inspection data and troubleshoot instrumentation to correctConduct Measurement System AnalysisMaintain clean and organized laboratory work environmentPractice safe working behaviors and adhere to safety policies guidelines and proceduresTrain new personnel on QC test methods procedures and work instructionsMaintain an inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders when supplies are requiredOther projects as assignedEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelors degree in a science field (Chemistry Biology Physics); OR an Associates degree in chemical technology or equivalent with 1 years of experience as a quality control laboratory technician; OR a High School diploma with 3 years of experience as quality control laboratory technicianMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of basic laboratory equipment analytical testing methods and results reportingKnowledge of basic calibration techniques and ability to perform calibration of instruments as requiredStrong mathematical skills including ability to calculate results such as averages percentages and metric conversionsUnderstand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trendsExperience working in a laboratory operating scientific equipment and safely handling chemicalsAbility to write procedures and reportsStrong work ethic professionalism attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures such as SOPsAbility to work independently and within team environments Must possess or be able to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearanceAbility to work in a diverse work environment. Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below)Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSExpertise with gravimetric analysis and tensile testingAbility to conduct calibration of laboratory equipment or interface with third party calibration service techniciansAbility to conduct troubleshooting and minor repair of laboratory instrumentsKnowledge of internal quality auditingExperience in a regulated production environment (nuclear / aerospace / medical devices)Experience in a certified materials testing lab. Experience with composites testing. LOCATION Work will be performed at the Centrus facility in Oak Ridge TN.
