Quality Control Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process. This role is responsible for inspecting incoming materials and finished products, maintaining calibrated inspection equipment, generating quality documentation, and assisting in the development of technical work instructions and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing or electromechanical assembly environment and will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure products meet company and customer specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspect incoming materials and components for conformance to drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Perform batching and finished goods quality testing throughout production.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of finished products using standard inspection tools.
  • Verify that all products meet company and customer quality requirements.
  • Verify accuracy of product labeling and packaging.
  • Apply statistical sampling methods (AQL) to determine inspection levels.
  • Inspect electromechanical assemblies including cables, harnesses, and subassemblies in accordance with IPC standards.
  • Document inspection findings and generate non-conformance reports as needed.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and measuring equipment in accordance with documented standards and NIST guidelines.
  • Calibrate tools such as torque drivers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
  • Track calibration schedules and maintain equipment certification records.
  • Coordinate third-party calibration for specialized equipment when necessary.
  • Audit equipment to ensure calibration labels and documentation remain accurate and up to date.

Quality documentation and reporting tasks include:

  • Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Assist in the development and revision of technical work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Capture photos and documentation to support assembly instructions and quality records.
  • Support revision control and configuration control for quality documentation.
  • Compile and publish user guides and technical manuals related to automation work cells.

Process improvement and quality analysis tasks include:

  • Investigate quality issues by collecting relevant data and performing root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure proper documentation and closure.
  • Analyze quality trends using statistical tools such as SPC and Pareto charts.
  • Provide recommendations to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

Cross-functional support tasks include:

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to improve quality processes.
  • Assist with production builds and troubleshooting when needed.
  • Train new technicians or production personnel on inspection procedures.
  • Support internal quality audits and ISO quality management system requirements.
  • Assist with warranty return investigations and product failure analysis when necessary.

Required qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 23 years of experience in a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or similar manufacturing role
  • Experience using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, torque testers, and gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in electromechanical assembly or manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and ANSI Y14.5 drawings
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA processes, and statistical quality tools
  • Experience developing work instructions or technical documentation
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field
