Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality assurance and control support to customers suppliers and internal production; ensuring products components parts and material conform to customer supplier and regulatory requirements. This position is a key liaison with internal staff suppliers and customers on Quality related matters. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.WORK SHIFT:Monday to Friday. Day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Ability to work 40 hours per week including weekends as required.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Quality Rules and Safety RulesIdentify and reports safety problems.Safe forklift operation transporting moving and inspecting partsConduct Nonconforming Material Review and dispositionPerform product nonconformance root cause analysis corrective action and executionDevelop system/Process based corrective/preventative actionReview CARs for viability completion and effectiveness measurementsValidate Return Material Authorization (RMA) requests for product with dimensional issuesProcess all valid RMAsLead validate and provide 8D responses upon customer requestAssist in the continuous improvement projects for chronic nonconformance issuesWork with suppliers on continuous improvement activitiesInspect parts for dimensional compliance using basic measuring equipment including tape measures calipers micrometers height gages dial indicators snap gauges profilometers etc.Drawing / Blueprint reading and basic GD&TDocument and report nonconformances or out-of-tolerance conditions on inspection documents and work orders. Create Nonconformance Material Reports (NCMR)Oracle use and transactionsComplete Quality reportsMonitor quality control activities and processes at suppliers. Review and analyze corrective action and non-conformance data to eliminate non-conformances. May assist with suppliers in dock to stock programs to reduce/eliminate the need for incoming inspection activities.Develop reports and metrics on various aspects of quality assurance function including cost of scrap and rework operations accuracy of inspection quality of outgoing product etc. Monitor nonconforming parts through RMA and the rework process including timely disposition and closure.Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in engineering related field2 related experience in a manufacturing environment; forging and/or machining industry preferredKnowledge of manufacturing and quality systems; Aerospace preferredAbility to complete work assignments accurately and quickly always focusing on accomplishing the goal. Sense of urgency determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving resultsStrong organization problem solving and planning skillsStrong communications skills both verbal and written to convey ideas and processesProven ability to work and thrive in a team environmentPositive attitude Team player Responsible Flexible Willing to SupportFamiliarity with technical drawings and specifications for aerospace products. Ability to analyze and interpret dataBasic visual and dimensional inspection skills using measuring equipment and inspection tools.Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint; Oracle experience preferredClear and legible handwriting.Lean manufacturing basicsTrouble shooting and problem skills with focus on process improvementProject Management basicPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaterial Review Board / part and documentation review and decision makingWorking knowledge of aerospace industry standards (AS9100 AS13100 6 Sigma etc.) and quality management systemsPHYSICAL DEMANDThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
